Extra precautions for a new health challenge

To Our Valued Patients,

Your dental family at Brightwork Dental Care wanted to reach out to you during this uncertain time in our world. As you know, our ability to see you for your dental concerns and preventative care has been greatly restricted the last few months. We have missed seeing you and are happy to report that we may resume preventative care visits. We know that oral health is critical for your entire health and immune system, and we are ready to care for you and your family. However, some may not feel they are ready to return for their preventative care visits. THAT IS OK- everyone needs to make the best decision for themselves, but we wanted to share with you the procedures and safety measures we are taking during this time.

The good news is that we in the dental field have been practicing universal precautions to make both our patients, and ourselves safe since the 1980’s. It was then that we dramatically changed our protocols for infection control, safety, and personal protection. Our profession has been a leader in making the medical environment safe for decades. All of us at Brightwork Dental Care are closely following recommendations published by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).


In addition to our time-tested protocols to prevent the spread of disease in the dental office, we are taking extra steps until we are sure this virus is behind us.
You will see a slightly new look coming back and some altered procedures to increase infection control and reduce the aerosols produced in the office. Each room has a state-of-the-art air HEPA filtration system. This purifier captures dust particles, pollen, gases, mold, aerosols, and viruses. We are using high volume evacuation as much as possible. We have changed our reception area to allow for social distancing and we request that you please bring as few people with you as possible. We have a hand sanitizing station in the reception area and ask that everyone coming into the office wears a face covering, if you do not have one, we will provide one for you. We have also installed glass at the front desk.

There are also some extra precautions coming into the office to prevent potential transmission of the virus- this includes a screening process before coming in for your appointment and then again when you check in for your appointment as well as having your temperature taken. We will look a little different also- all team members at the front desk will be wearing a mask, and all clinical team members will be wearing a face shield, surgical grade and fit-tested mask and gowns that are changed after every patient.

Even though you won’t be able to see our smiling faces, know we are smiling under our masks and so happy to be back to care for our loyal patients!
